Color Match Cult Lipsticks with Lust & Envy Pigments
Creating the perfect colored pout for your clients.
How many times has a client handed you their favorite lipstick and asked you to tattoo the exact same shade on their lips? Or, do you have clients who struggle to commit because they aren't confident about which color works best for them? Wouldn’t it be great if you knew how to mix and create any color your client brought in, or even better, suggest cult-favorite lipstick colors that are loved by millions of women around the world?
One of the easiest ways to gain your client’s confidence and meet their expectations is to suggest lip colors they already know and love. Of course, healed results will vary based on your client’s undertone and lip tissue conditions, but color mixing with pigments is a great starting point to giving your client’s their dream lip color wishes.
In this blog post, I, along with our trusted The Collective instructors' Jasmine Diebelius and Ramona Krusinskiene, will share the top cult-favorite lip colors and the EXACT recipe for creating them with Lust & Envy lip pigment colors.

Here’s step-by-step on how to color match featuring Charlotte Tilbury ‘Walk of No Shame’ Lipstick:
Step 1: IDENTIFY THE COLOR FAMILY
Examine the reference lipstick color’s undertone to identify the major color families. You can do this by applying it onto your client’s inner wrist AND swatching on white paper to see the color without the influence of skin.
The main color families are: pinks, orange/corals, reds, berry/mauves, and browns. Note: color families can be a mixture, i.e., a pinky-brown, reddish-pink, mauve-y pink, etc.
UNDERTONES
WARM: Orange/coral dominant
COOL: Cool blue-red, mauve or purple dominant
NEUTRAL: Neither warm nor cool dominant, a blend of both warm and cool
Charlotte Tilbury Walk of Shame is a deep, warm-dominant lip color that has cool rosy pink undertones.
Step 2: CHOOSE 2-3 PIGMENT COLORS TO WORK WITH
Select 2-3 pigments that have the same COLOR FAMILIES as the reference lipstick color for the mixture. Your options should contain:
1. The dominant lip color family
2. A secondary lip color family
3. Optional: a color to intensify or lighten, darken the mixture
Step 3: MIXING
1. Start with the DOMINANT pigment color and use it as the base pigment color for mixing.
I used Envy Cinnamon as the base pigment color since it has a medium-value warm brown-pink undertone that is present in WALK OF NO SHAME.
2. Slowly add in the SECONDARY pigment color to shift the color towards the reference lip color. Pro Tip: add this pigment color in a little at a time so you don’t “overshoot”.
I used Perma Blend Dusky Crimson as the secondary pigment color since it has a deep-value, berry cool base that is also present in WALK OF NO SHAME.
3. After mixing the dominant and secondary colors, you may feel the color just isn’t quite there yet and needs adjusting. You can add in more of the DOMINANT or SECONDARY color to shift the color in either direction OR add a third color to lighten, darken, or brighten the mixture.
I used Lust Pink Coral as the third optional pigment color to lighten and brighten up the pigment mixture.
Here are the ratios I used:
Step 4: COMPARE AND ADJUST IF NECESSARY
Compare your final mixture to the reference lip color and make adjustments by adding additional drops of pigment from your color choices. Remember that the darkest and deepest color can shift color quickly so you’ll want to add in 1 drop at a time.
