SPCP Microblading Tools Guidlines

Recently, we were invited by the SPCP (Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals) to help them develop their guidelines for microblading tools.

If you are not familiar with the SPCP, they are an organization that is committed to helping the entire PMU industry navigate health and safety, legal issues, and best practices.  They do this through education, certification and the creation of industry guidelines.

It was an honour for us to participate in creating the guidelines for microblading tools as it clearly aligns with our mission to help artists safely do their best work.

Unfortunately, many of the microblading tools available on the market are not properly sterilized (even if their packaging states that they are).  We learned this using an independent lab and running tests for sterility on the most popular microblading tools.  The results were shocking and disturbing.

Using unsterilized tools is very risky and can spread diseases.

Regardless of where you buy your tools, we urge you be informed and do your homework.  Several states and countries now require sterilization certificates so be sure your vendor can provide you one.  One of the prime benefits of joining an organization like the SPCP is that they lead the way in education and best practices for our industry. As you continue to grow as a professional, it's one of the best ways to stay connected and on top of current issues.
